What the app does

MaoDesign opens, creates, and edits embroidery designs on Android. Add text, images, and freehand strokes; organize layers and threads; simulate, save, export, and share.

Design formats

The opening flow accepts DST, HUS, JEF, PEC, PES, and XXX. EDR is only an auxiliary palette and is not a complete embroidery design. Some formats preserve less thread or metadata information.

Open or create

  • Tap Open Embroidery File to use the Android picker.
  • Tap Create new embroidery to select a hoop and start an empty project.
  • Recognized formats may also open from the Android file manager.

Editor

Use Add for text, image, or stroke. Use Layers to select/order elements and Threads to review colors. Simulation helps inspect sequence, but always test on the machine before final production.

Files and favorites

Files, thumbnails, recent history, and favorites stay on the device. Free allows up to 3 favorites; Premium expands the limit. Uninstalling or clearing app data may erase local content, so keep copies of important work.

Account and subscription

Google sign-in is optional. Embroidery designs and favorites remain only on the device where they were saved. Premium is managed by Google Play. Cancel under Google Play > Payments & subscriptions > Subscriptions.

Delete the account under Profile > Delete account or see the deletion page. Account deletion does not cancel Premium or remove local files.

Privacy

Change collection under Settings > Data Collection Level. Essential sends crash diagnostics; Analytics and personalization depend on your choice. See the Privacy Policy.

Troubleshooting

  • File will not open: confirm the format, try another copy, and check for corruption.
  • Sign-in fails: confirm internet access and an available Google account.
  • Premium is missing: open Premium and restore/refresh the purchase using the same Google Play account.
  • App is slow: close other apps, free storage, and reduce very large image complexity.
  • Deletion requires sign-in: sign in again and repeat because Firebase may require recent authentication.
